while you were away

excuse me while i reacquaint myself with life after a week of travel-i have a dog who missed us. i have a charming cottage with water in the basement. i have an empty cupboard. i have piles of dirty clothes that have lived a thousand memories like fishing and dancing and hiking and swimming. i have piles of books and dvds that were read and watched that need to be re-shelved. i have snoozing children who are chigger bitten and exhausted from late nights with friends and early mornings with cousins. i have a Mister who traveled and worked whilst we were away. i have feet that still feel sore from dancing the night away at our darling friends' wedding-{Run DMC shut it down}. i have a 13 year old who was showered with silly string and water balloons as well as speeches and scriptures from friends of long ago. i have suitcases teeming with found treasures we collected along our latest adventure. i cannot wait to tell you all about it. but first...

on my way back home

at dawn's early light, the caravan de girl friday will be pulling out en route to the mother country {aka tennessee}-the place i couldn't wait to leave at 18, the place that wooed me back because i fell in love with a boy, the place where i had all my boys, the place that still holds my heart. 
while there we will be lauding our boy of 13 years, boating/fishing with grandpapa, fattening up at nana's and celebrating the nuptials of our sweet friends gabe and ryan. 


i can't wait to tell you all about it once we return {if i return}. until then, i bid you adieu...
